Treadmill pace converter

Turn the speed on your treadmill display into running pace.

Enter a speed in kilometres or miles per hour to see its equivalent pace per kilometre and per mile. Compare your result with the chart of common treadmill speeds, then save or print it for reference. The conversion uses the displayed speed without an incline adjustment.

Match the input unit to the speed shown on your treadmill before calculating. For example, 10 kilometres per hour gives a pace of 6:00 per kilometre, while 6 miles per hour gives 10:00 per mile.

behind this tool.

Convert your treadmill speed

  1. Choose kilometres for a km/h display or miles for an mph display.
  2. Enter the treadmill speed and convert it.
  3. Read your pace per kilometre and per mile, then compare it with the chart of common speeds.
  4. Print, share or save a PDF of your result and chart.

A worked example

  • 6.0 mph gives 10:00 per mile and 6:13 per kilometre.
  • 10 km/h gives 6:00 per kilometre and 9:39 per mile.

How this tool works

Pace = 60 / speed gives minutes per kilometre for km/h, or minutes per mile for mph.

The other pace uses exactly 1 mile = 1.609344 km. Switching between km/h and mph converts the entered speed, so the physical speed stays the same.

Displayed paces round half up to the nearest second. The chart lists common treadmill speeds in the unit you choose, with your speed highlighted when it appears.

Treadmill displays and settings can differ from running outdoors. The tool converts the displayed speed only and makes no incline or calibration adjustment.
